Our day started out with an Estate Sale by Sal. Not bad considering it was my first time. The day was filled with meeting so many colorful characters. The first one was Phillip. He was a very nice man, but his partner was one of those quiet types. I think he may have smiled once (maybe). I’ve heard you have to be careful with those quiet ones. LOL!
Next we met Anne, the owner of ANNTIQUES in Riverside. She is definitely what you would consider a "BROAD" and she definitely does not care what she says or whom she says it to. SO MUCH FUN! After the Estate sale, we went and visited Anne at her shop. While we were visiting with her, a beautiful man comes in. You know… the type that you find on the cover of a romance novel? He was Hispanic with curly, shoulder length hair (the kind every woman wants), little hair under his lip and a little hair on his chin. Naturally, I told him he was very cool looking. He was YUMMY! Sorry ladies, after he purchased some old pictures and left, he returned with his son and girlfriend, who was about ready to pop with their second child. Their son, of course, was as cute as can be and will definitely take after his father. But wait it gets better. While we were outside in the courtyard, I asked if they were having a boy or a girl, and she says a boy. So then I asked if they had a name picked out yet, and she says, “no.” So I asked what their son’s name was and she says, Alucard. Naturally, my next question was where does that come from, thinking it’s a family name or some foreign name because of it being so unusual. She explained that it is DRACULA spelled backwards. So I suggested she use something like Warlock spelled backwards for the new baby. She was not thrilled and continued shopping. Patty and I could not stop laughing. Oh well, I tried. As we were leaving, Anne says, "My full name is Anne Elizabeth that's what my mother called me. My ex-Husband called me…” (Sorry I don't remember what she said). Putting her shoulder to her cheek she says, "My Boyfriend just calls me ‘SUGAR’." I laughed so hard I almost peed my pants (almost)!

But wait our day is not done yet! We then went to a garage sale that was posted on Craigslist, but it was advertised for the wrong day. There was some stuff outside so we knocked on the door and out comes this lady with a furry leopard jacket, jeans and a hat with flowers on the side. She tells us her name is Dawn. Oh my gosh! The first thing I think of is "Delta Dawn what's that flower you have on" by Helen Reddy. Dawn is one of those wonderful, artsy-fartsy-types of people that I absolutely adore! We creative women need to stick together and tell everyone about each other! Dawn creates wonderful yard art with old furniture and all of this other old stuff you wouldn't even think of using... her work is AMAZING!
I am thankful to all of these wonderful characters for letting us visit with them and for creating one of the most fabulous days I have had thus far! This day will go down in "PIKIN CHIXS" history!
Here’s to our wonderful new friends!
We will be posting pictures of our really good FINDS, so if you see something you want just give us a call! 951.588.5559
